Meet Tatiana
The Wiz Travel is a personal blog of Tatiana Maskaron where she has been travel writing to help readers make smart decisions about their travel and adventure.
My name is Tatiana Maskaron. I am an American female entrepreneur, technologist, and executive located in Los Angeles, California. I am also a wife and a mother of a 2-year-old boy Alexander.

I most recently served as the CEO of Dayaxe, an LA-based start-up known as the Open Table for hotel amenities, the company I founded in August 2017. Dayaxe created a “daycation” resource providing consumers with day access to some of the world’s most luxurious hotels and resorts without having to commit to a night’s stay or vacation and was sold to Hotels by Day in December 2019.

I raised a private angel round and launched Dayaxe, in Los Angeles in August 2017 giving day guests ability to soak in the pool while having a bite, workout at the gym, use spa services and conduct business meetings for under $25 per guest with no overnight room needed. Our customers loved the idea and initial launch was followed by a rapid expansion in top 5 markets of Southern California and quickly expanded to the top 20 major metro markets over the next 12 months.

I signed marquee hotel brands such as The Ritz-Carlton, The W, Fairmont, Hyatt, Westin, InterContinental and many more to give Dayaxe customers the ultimate experience any hotel guest would receive at an efficient price. In late 2017, I launched Dayaxe subscription where for a flat monthly fee of $50 user could enjoy access to any hotel on our website. Majority of subscribers are using hotel amenities for their underutilized gyms and empty spas. It quickly became a hit amongst Dayaxe users. In late 2018, I turned down an offer from a major travel company to purchase Dayaxe and proceeded to expand the company nationwide.

Over just 2 years, I grew Dayaxe into an online marketplace for hotel day access, incorporating several underutilized hotel amenities such as cabanas, spa treatments, fitness classes, day rooms sold the company to HotelsByDay in 2019.

Being an avid traveler myself and having to always travel while working and last 2 years with an infant, I used to write about my hotel experiences and destinations to stay for Dayaxe. After I sold Dayaxe I continued to write here, but now it’s all about traveling as a family and enjoying life.
My favorite hobbies are scuba diving and skiing. Sometimes I don’t mind laying on the beach and sipping cocktails or enjoying a massage at a 5-star spa, but I would much rather be 30 feet deep in the ocean somewhere in Indonesian sea or skiing top of Utah peaks! Yes, you guessed it, those are my two most favorite destinations in the world.
I also love cultural travels such as those in Tuscany or France, tasting delicious foods and trying to recreate them at home. I love to cook. Thanks to my half-Italian soulmate, I got to learn and perfect the art of Italian food. You can never ruin pasta though. I love wine tasting, especially learning how to pair it with various foods. My favorite wines are Italian and Argentinian Malbec. Lately I’ve been into Moscato.
Other activities I like are sailing, which I find to be a team sport. It teaches you how to lead a team through effective communication. You can quickly see who is really bad at it on your team and how to improve it. I love to document my life with GoPro. I always have it with me. Adventure fuels my life, gives me purpose and creativity.

The Wiz Travel remains, most of all, a place to tell stories. I hope you enjoy it!
